Engineering Lead & Solution Architect

Sarajevo (hybrid), or Belgrade (remote)

The Principal Engineer role at Authority Partners is defined by one thing that is genuinely rare in consulting: continuity of ownership. What you design during the sales process, you are accountable for delivering, and the quality of that delivery reflects directly on your technical judgment.

In practice, the role operates across three dimensions. When an opportunity is on the table, you lead solutioning: evaluating the technical landscape, defining the architecture, building the cost model, and shaping an approach that is both technically sound and commercially credible. Once the work begins, you transition into delivery leadership - owning execution, managing risk, and maintaining stakeholder trust. And throughout all of it, you are a people leader: developing engineers, running performance conversations, and building the kind of team culture where people consistently do their best work.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Serve as the primary technical authority on your engagements - making and ratifying key architectural decisions and setting technical direction across delivery teams
  • Design and own solution architectures that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with client business objectives
  • Evaluate and guide technology choices across the full stack - with the hands-on depth to validate what your teams are building
  • Provide technical mentorship to senior engineers and consultants across the organization, raising the technical bar through direct engagement with the work
  • Bring forward-thinking technical perspectives into pursuits, delivery, and internal practice development

Delivery Leadership

  • Lead technical execution across multiple capability areas, delivering integrated solutions that span more than one service or practice
  • Own program delivery end-to-end - tracking scope, schedule, and budget, and driving resolution when they come under pressure
  • Build strong relationships with key client stakeholders beyond your immediate point of contact, ensuring Authority Partners is well-positioned across the account
  • Manage and coach project teams directly - providing technical guidance, clearing blockers, and ensuring consultants in stretch roles are set up to succeed
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery methodology, shared standards, and practices across the teams you lead

Sales & Solution Design

  • Lead the full solutioning process for medium-sized deals - defining the technical and functional approach, team composition, delivery timelines, and cost models, with the technical credibility to defend and adapt the approach in front of demanding client audiences
  • Identify and document client vision and desired outcomes during discovery, evaluating the current technology environment and scoping across process, functional, and non-functional dimensions
  • Collaborate with the Client Executive to shape the approach document and Statement of Work, including assumptions, risks, warranties, and training considerations
  • Own the sales-to-delivery transition, ensuring technical alignment and clarity carry through from pursuit to execution

People Leadership

  • Own the full hiring and onboarding experience for new consultants, and take responsibility for continuously improving it over time
  • Conduct regular, substantive check-ins with direct reports - actively investing in their career development, not just tracking progress
  • Run performance evaluations and calibration discussions independently, with tangible feedback and clear expectations
  • Identify promotion-ready talent and advocate for them in the right conversations
  • Initiate and manage Performance Improvement Plans when needed, and handle separations of service with discretion and care
  • Monitor team engagement proactively - recognizing early signs of attrition risk and addressing root causes before they escalate
  • Foster a culture of recognition, inclusion, and psychological safety, and contribute to succession planning for future leadership
